Cannabis is a class B drug. in January 2009 the govermant changed the status of the drug from a class C drug to a class B drug. The decision to change cannabis to a class B drug was due to a stronger form of cannabis called skunk which was found in alot of familys and communities around the UK.
The Changing of the drug 'cannabis' to a class B drug means that the govement and police force can enforce laws on the supply and posesion of cannabis as a way to cut down the usage of the drug. The police and other organisations now have the power to shut down cannabis farms and proisicute anyone responsible. you can get arrested straight away for supplying and trafficing with a maximum of 14 years in jail and for a young person inposesion of the drug could face up to 5 years in prison.
